Solo
Trace Elements is a 15-minute solo choreographed by Allen Kaeja and performed by me. The solo was originally made in 2000 for Mary-Louise Albert, my mom and it was re-envisioned and passed down from mother to daughter in 2019 as part of Mary-Louise Albert’s project “Solo Dances/Past into Present”.
There is the wish for this re-imagined solo that this work of memory of persecution was just a source of history uncovered, but unfortunately with the rise of fascism and anti-Semitism world wide, it is as relevant today as it was 20 years ago.
Trace Elements has been performed in Vancouver, B.C and Sointula, B.C.
